Hooray for new things!

I hardly ever spend money on clothes for myself. It's something I always end up talking myself out of. With that being said, my Mom has bought probably 90% of all my work clothes...she has great taste! :) So...this weekend, I bought a bunch of weekend dresses! It's something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. Here are a few pictures....

I got a few new pairs of weekend flip flops to go with my new dresses! I actually got another pair but I will have to return them, because some fatty foot stretched out the left foot (I didn't try them on in the store) so the left shoe is too big. :(

I also got two new lamps for our bedroom! Goodbye Cobalt Hat! The Cobalt Hat was a gift my Mom gave to Mike for Christmas, except I stole it. It is a very nifty hat --- it has three settings for the lights on the bill. I used it when I was reading in bed so that I would not have to get out of bed to turn the ceiling fan light off. Ha!

Saturday Mike and I ran to Wal-Mart to get a few things for dinner (Mike's parents came up for a steak dinner -- so good!) and I bought some sunflowers. I thought they would look perfect on our coffee table. I love having fresh flowers in the house.

So, Mom, what do you think about all my new stuff?!?!?! :)

TGIF!

Woo Hoo! It's officially the weekend! I LOVE the weekend! I can now relate to the phrase "living for the weekend."

I said that I would try to post more during the week and I'm thinking that a Friday post will keep me honest. :)

This week we were on a mission to consolidate our insurance policies. It all started when Mike called his old insurance company to add the Civic to his policy ---- and they raised the monthly premium. I flipped. I got so angry. Come to find out...after shopping around and getting multiple quotes we were definitely getting ripped off. I feel much better knowing that we have shopped and are getting good rates now.

So, almost every time Mike and I are in the car, I can sing all the words to all the songs on almost all the radio stations. Mike joked -- is there any song you don't know the words to? A few weeks ago I was driving into work and I was turning the knob to find a new XM radio station and I was coming to a sudden stop so I stopped paying attention to the radio and more on the cars in front of me. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I started paying attention to what was on the radio. I had landed on XM 32 - The Message. It's a Christian station. I've never been big into the Christian Pop music but I really liked the songs that they were playing. It was nice to not know the words --- it made me listen. But anyways, I have found a favorite christian pop song. It's called "Wholly Yours" by David Crowder. I like the "B" version better (stands for Banjo) but I couldn't find that version on YouTube...so here it is in the "A" version. I like the play on words (Holy/Wholly) and I really like the music...listen for yourself.

Another Sunday Night Post

I really hope that I'm not turning into a Sunday Night blogger. My weeks are so busy with work, the last thing I want to do is come home really late and open the computer back up. I will try to post some more through out the week.

Ok - a quick weekend recap....

Friday night was relaxing. We made a pizza and watched TV (well...I spent most of the night putting a dent in New Moon --- the 2nd book in the Twilight series). Saturday we got up and spent an unnecessary amount of time at the Verizon store getting Mike a new phone. He got a Blackberry! Yippee! Now we can Blackberry Message all day long! :) After Verizon, I headed down to meet my friend, Mauri for lunch. We met at Panera and I got the Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato soup. It was the perfect lunch for a rainy day --- definitely a comfort food. Saturday night Mike and I went to the Gym Dogs meet in Athens. It was the last meet of the season in Stegman and of course the Gym Dogs WON! After the meet we decided to crash at my Dad's house. Sunday we all got up and went to Watkinsville and ate Mexican for lunch. After lunch Mike and I headed back and made a stop at Wal-Mart to pick up groceries for the week and a few other items. We got home and we have hardly moved from the couch. So much for doing laundry.....

One thing I did accomplish today...I finished New Moon! I'm looking forward to starting Eclipse!

I guess that's all for now.

Have a great week!

Hello Spring!

So before I get into our weekend update, I thought I'd let you know of my Ambien adventure. The other night I was working late and by the time I got home I still could not unwind from the day. So, I took an Ambien. I figured it would be a way to get my brain to turn off of work for a few hours. Well, apparently a few minutes after I had fallen asleep Mike said that I started making funny noises. I guess when he said my name, he woke me up in the physical state, but mentally, the Ambien had already taken over. When I opened my eyes, I saw tons of people dressed head to toe in feathers. Yes, there were feathered people in our bedroom - I saw them! I also saw a bird sitting on our ceiling fan and there was fabric on the walls. Everything was moving. When I asked Mike "why are they here?" (meaning the feathered people) I think that's when he realized that something wasn't quite right. He asked me if I was hallucinating and I surprisingly said "Yes, I'm hallucinating." This was the first time that I had taken an Ambien and hallucinated. The next morning Mike asked me if I remembered hallucinating and it all came back to me clear as day. I remember it so clearly. It was so weird! I even remember telling Mike that I knew I was hallucinating. Did you know that hallucinations are a side effect to taking Ambien? I googled it and it is not uncommon. So...beware!

**Just as a side note -this was my first hallucination experience so please do not think that I am some drug doing hippie. I simply took a sleeping pill to do just that - go to sleep.

Ok - on to the weekend...

This weekend was great! It started out by heading down to Newnan to spend the night with Mike's parents. We got down there kind of late, so there's not much more to say about Friday. Although, I did cook before we hit the road. I made Shrimp Casserole (I got the recipe from Kelly's Korner). It was a nice new dish for us to try on a Friday during Lent. :)

On Saturday, we spent the day just lounging around the house. Saturday afternoon, Mike and I sat down and re-did our taxes; this time claiming the FTHB credit. I can't wait to get that big deposit in our account!

Today we were heathens and did not go to church. We woke up to sunshine and it made me think ahead to the warm weather and that bathing suit season will be here before we know it. So, we got up and went to the gym...for the first time since we've been married. Ha! That's embarrassing. On the way home, we rode with the windows down and it kicked us into Spring mode. When we got back from the gym we started cleaning. I bet we spent at least two hours just straight cleaning. Our house smells so nice and fresh now!

This afternoon I met my Mom at TJ Maxx to look for some shoes...no luck. I think my feet are shrinking because all the 6's are too big now. I wish the rest of my body would shrink a little bit. Ha!

I forgot to mention that I finished Twilight this weekend. So my sister brought me the next two books for me to read. I can't wait to see the movie and start the second book!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend and was out enjoying the beautiful weather!

Have a blessed week!

Special Day

Today is a special day. It is my sister's birthday! Mike and I drove to Cumming for dinner tonight to celebrate Amanda's birthday. It was a nice time. It's rare that we all make it to go out to eat --- usually someone can't make it because of work, basketball practice, track meet, etc. But, we were all together tonight. I love dinners with family. Happy Birthday Amanda!

Me and the Birthday Girl

Me and Mr. Big Head :)

AND...one more thing! It's also my best friend Mauri's birthday! Mauri and I were roommates throughout college and is a very special friend. It's the kind of friendship that will last for a very long time. Happy Birthday Mauri!

I have Junior Achievement tomorrow morning. I volunteer to teach a class (7 lessons actually) about success skills. So far it has been really fun and fulfilling. I'm looking forward to seeing the students again tomorrow.

Bachelor Finale, Tuesday Lunch, FTHB Tax Credit

Ok - so it's been almost a full 24 hours since The Bachelor...and I'm still bitter about it. While I will give Jason the credit that he did the right thing by breaking up with Melissa (rather than adding another divorce to his record) --- I still think he was wrong for proposing in the first place! I felt so bad for Melissa, I hope she meets her prince charming one day and that she won't end up giving her ring back. Am I the only one who thinks its odd that he is proposed THREE times? He's not even that old! Maybe Molly will be flattered she could be #4.

Today was a little more interesting than a regular Tuesday. I got to meet Mike and the in-laws for lunch! Mike and his Dad had to get together to get the title for his (old) car squared away so we decided to make a lunch out of it. It was definitely the highlight of my day.

Mike and I have been talking about the First Time Home Buyer's Tax Credit lately...whether to re-do our taxes and claim the credit, or not. Since we have not already mailed in our tax returns, I'm thinking that we are leaning more toward taking advantage of this free money. If we do decide to claim the credit, you can bet your dollar that I'll be earning interest off our free money. Besides, it can't ever hurt to have a little extra cash.

Is anyone else claiming the FTHB credit?

Weekend Update

Well, I am officially hooked on this Twilight book. My boss has let me borrow her copy and I can not put the book down. I didn't think that I would like a book that was about vampires but it's an easy read and a page-turner. I wonder if I will get hooked after reading Twilight and run out to get the other 3 books....

On Friday night we went out to eat with our good friends Scott and Whitney at Frontera. After dinner we all came back to the house and just lounged for a little while. Saturday morning (well, more like brunch time) we meet up with S&W again at Hobby Lobby where I got two new pictures/signs for the house.

After lunch on Saturday we headed up to Athens for the GymDogs meet. The GymDogs stomped the Gators! AND Courtney Kupets got a 10 on the floor! It was a great meet! After the GymDogs, we (Mike, Dad, Pam, and some friends from the neighborhood) went to Outback. I've always been a huge fan of the Alice Springs Chicken and I noticed that they had added a new appetizer - the Alice Springs Chicken Quesadilla. I figured I would try it out and it was soooooo good!

Sunday morning we got up and went to Mass in the monsoon. After Mass, we went on an all day shopping adventure for new work shoes for Mike. After several hours of getting in and out of the rain (turned snow) --- I decided that the only place left to go was Bennie's. My Dad gets his shoes from Bennie's so I figured he must know something we don't when it comes to men's shoes. He was right on. Bennie's is the jackpot. I told Mike that we were not leaving without at least one pair of shoes. We left with two pairs of work shoes, shoe laces, and shoe trees.

I didn't have my camera with me to take pictures of the snow but we got a lot of it! I hope that we get more! I love the snow!

I hope that everyone has a great week!

Now...back to Twilight! :)
