San Francisco Day 2

I should have mentioned in my last post that I have been walking around with the ultimate tourist flag - a Frommer's San Francisco book. It has been the best thing for this trip, I LOVE this book. It's equipped with suggested places to eat, self guided walking tours, neat little shops down little ally ways and all kinds of secret things that we would have never found.

But anyways, on with our second day.....

Day 2 started out with breakfast and then a stop at Starbucks. Using our handy dandy Frommer's guide book, we did the self guided walking tour through Chinatown. It was very cool.
The entrance to Chinatown

Hey! We have the same hair cut! Can you find my Frommer's book?

One of the stops in our self guided walking tour was at the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company. This little jewel was down a little alley way and had 3 little Chinese ladies sitting at conveyor belts, folding messages into warm cookies.

The nice Chinese man gave me a free fortune cookie. :) My fortune said "Treat yourself to a good book for a needed rest and escape."

After we completed our self guided tour, we hopped on a cable car, which was packed! Here we are hanging on for dear life on the back of the cable car.

Our next stop was Alcatraz. Mike took this picture from the ferry.

After Alcatraz we walked down to Pier 39. We heard a lot of racket at the end of the pier so we walked down to check it out and we found these stinky fellas. There were several hundred sea lions. Big ones, small ones, sleeping ones --- but they all stunk like the high heavens! Pew-wee!

Our next stop was Fisherman's Wharf. We had dinner at Scoma's and then took a cab back to our hotel and crashed.

It was a looong day. But a lot of fun!

San Francisco Day 1

Well, there wasn't much to San Francisco Day 1 --- but here it is in a summary.

Upon arriving at SFO we hoped on BART (the San Fran Marta). The train doors opened and our jaws hit the floor. I wish someone had taken a picture of our expressions. We were totally speechless. The BART was full of youngsters (probably just getting into High School) that were wearing tutu's and bras. The train smelled of weed and vodka --- such a nice welcoming smell to San Francisco. A nice girl sitting behind me asked if we were going to 'love fest' to which I replied 'No, what's Love Fest?' "Oh, it's a big festival they have in the city. It's so much fun, you should definitely go." "Well, I don't think we're dressed for Love Fest, but I hope you have a great time!" I wish I had taken a picture but I'm pretty sure I might get in trouble for posting minors in such outfits on the Internet.

After we finally found our way to our hotel, we ventured out to a little Irish pub (Murphys) to watch the last quarter of the Georgia game. We were the only people in the bar watching the game. After we watched Georgia stop playing football we ventured out to Union Square and browsed the shops. We got back to our hotel around 6:45ish and we decided that it would probably be best to take a nap (we were exhausted and felt icky from the plane ride)...but that nap turned into a very long night of sleep. I think these were the only pictures we took.

I'll post San Fran Day 2 pics tomorrow --- I'm a day behind. I'll blame it on jet lag. :)

One Year Down....

Dear Mike,

Well, we made it through one whole year being married. We've experienced all the holidays and birthdays, traveled away for weekend trips and overseas, bought big purchases, and gained weight. I think we've covered it all...and we've continued to be blissfully happy. I'm probably one of the luckiest girls in the world to have a husband that is so giving, loving and caring. They say that the first year of marriage is the roughest....but I gotta say; if this was the hardest year....Babe, we've got this thing in the bag! ;) Thanks for a wonderful first year of marriage; and as I always say, I love you too much. Looking forward to the many, many more years to come.

Love,
Michelle

Bad Hair Cut

I had a great idea to get my hair cut for our vacation. Well, let me tell you about this great idea.

I guess I should start out by saying that I have been going to the same hair dresser for 11 years, so she knows what I like. Well, she made a 'oops' last night.

Here's a before picture:

Here is the after picture (please excuse the drama):

I cried all the way home. I've never HATED a hair cut so much before in my whole entire life. Please do not to tell me how bad it is to my face because I will probably burst into tears all over again.

I tried to put it in a pony tail to hide the horribleness; but some of my hair falls down. I never knew a pony tail could look so awful.

Mike, being the sweet husband that he is, says it's 'not that bad' and that he actually likes it. HA! This is me saying "Really, you think?" I don't believe him. Can you still see the tears?

This is what my hair looks like today...and it will probably look like this until all the lion layers grow out. The bobby pin = my new best friend.

I guess at the end of the day, it's just hair. It will grow. Everyday people lose their hair and I will do what I can with mine because it could always be worse, right? In the mean time, I will continue to "Roar" at Mike when I reference how much I hate my new hair cut.

First Day

I am the new kid. It is a 'small' company (to me). There are only 22 people in the office. I have a cube. Everyone does their own thing. It's very laid back. We get free cokes and parking is free!My commute is about 40 minutes. We have an office outing to play Whirlyball this week --- which I am really excited about. I really like my new job, but...I really miss my friends.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow! :)

Time for bed.

Say a little prayer for me.....

because tomorrow I start my new J-O-B!

Eeeeeekkkk! I'm so excited I don't think I will sleep a wink tonight.

Before and After

I could have sworn that I had taken before pictures...but I can't find them. So this will just have to do. The before furniture has been moved to our 'office' but since the 'office' was housing rubbermaid bins I decided to fill it with some furniture. Here is what we had in our living room before:

And here is what our living room looks like now:

Eventually we want to have bookshelves built in and a flat screen tv over the fireplace...but that will all come in time. So far we have really enjoyed our new furniture. :)
