Bird Nest(s)

I came home from work today to hear a bunch of chirping coming from our little bird nest on the front porch. So, naturally, I went to see what all the commotion was about. There were two big birds teaching two little birds (still sitting in the nest) how to fly! How neat! I tried to get a few pictures but they didn't come out too good -- those birds were flying too fast!

As of this afternoon we officially have an empty nest on the front porch....covered in a wreath of bird poop (you can kinda see it in the picture above). GROSS! Yes, these little birds turn their little butts to poop outside of their nest AND POOPED ALL OVER MY FRONT PORCH! Sick! I'm hoping that the water hose gets most of it off the brick because I do not want to scrub bird poop.

AND...we found another bird nest in the Holly Bush next to our garage door. I went to check on it today and the Momma bird flew at me, so I ran away --- she's protective of her little eggs. Last time we checked on those eggs, there were 3. I've been trying to figure out what kind of birds have decided to nest all around our house...I'm pretty sure that the one in the Holly bush is a Robin. I don't mind little Robin...she's made her nest in a bush so I don't care if she poops there. :-)

Oh yeah, and I found the beginnings of one more nest --- so yes, three bird nests. The third was just a few pieces of pine straw and a few strands of grass (so far). I'm debating whether I should stick something up there to prevent the other half of our porch from being covered in bird poop in the a few weeks.

I like the eggs and I like watching the little ones learn how to fly...but I do NOT like the mess they leave.
I hope that everyone is having a great week!

At last --- an update!

So, it's been a while since I've updated my blog. To be honest, I haven't updated much because I'm trying to keep my blog as positive as I can. No need for everyone to hear me complain about things (especially since I have so much to be thankful for).

Since my last post so much has happened:

  • Mike and I went on a weekend trip to Asheville, NC to see Jeff Dunham. We didn't take very many pictures this time, so the picture below is from the last time we visited. It's such a beautiful town --- and it has GREAT food! I highly recommend eating at The Corner Kitchen (great breakfast), The Lobster Trap (awesome seafood), and Barley's (best pizza in Asheville). I'd love to live there someday.

  • We found a birds nest in the corner of our front porch. I climbed up to take a picture of the eggs. :)

  • We attending a fundraiser for my Mom's friend Donna (Donna suffered from a severe stroke a few months ago and is having to go through lots and lots of therapy. The fundraiser was to raise money to help with medical bills and also to continue with therapy that insurance won't cover. Please keep Donna in your prayers!)

  • I completed my Junior Achievement course. Almost all of the students were taller than me.

  • All of Mauri's bridesmaids hosted a lingerie shower --- which was so much fun (and a bit scandalous!) Ha!

The awesome cake that Stephanie made!

The Bride to be and Me

All the bridesmaids and Mauri

  • My brother turned 15! Whoot whoot!

  • One of my best friends, Sarah turned 26! We celebrated the night a The Cheesecake Factory! One of my favorites!

  • The Easter Bunny came to our house to drop off some Cadbury eggs for Mike.
  • We attended the Tea Party downtown on Tax Day. It was packed and we saw a couple of really funny signs.

And today I met up with my Mom and my sister. We treated ourselves to mani-pedi's. AND...I wore my new pink dress (see last post for a picture). So far it has been a great weekend.

Oh yeah - and my Dad sent me a message last night that said "GymDogs are National Champs again." How awesome is that? Five years in a row. Back to back to back to back to back champs. Unbelievable! I can't wait to see them next season!
